“ Reminds me of some of my favorite bars I've patronized over the years. Dark and cool inside but not too dark. ”
“ My friends and I came here for the first time last night, and we enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks. We liked the dive bar feel and played some pool! Only thing we did not appreciate was one of the bartenders with a buzz cut was just a jerk ): we had only one round of drinks at that point, so it's not like we were being drunk idiots. Probably had the worst personality of a bartender we've ever met! I'll still come back but someone needs to give that dude a hug ”
“ Pre-Pandemic, I was coming to Sandy Hut, regularly, I went again a couple days ago during the snow storm 2023--- I always get the skinny burger. If you are looking for cheap (filling) eats, 10/10 highly recommend. the staff was super friendly, always. to drink, I had an IPA--- perfect combo with a burger. cheers queers. ”
“ This was my favorite and best little dive bar we were able to visit while in PDX after seeing a sold-out show out at the Pioneer Square. We showed up around 11pm and it was bumping with so many patrons and folks drinking and eating the night away. I was surprised to see how large this spot was after and also how cool and retro feeling The Sandy Hut made us feel right as we walked in. We had a really easy time, despite the late-night crowd, ordering our drinks at the bar as well as food. I was happy to see they had tallboy beers so I opted for a tried-and-true Lonestar tallboy (Hey! I am from Texas!) and a shot of wells whiskey. My guy ended up having a nice Old-Fashion which was deliciously made and tasty! Due to the crowd we sat outside on the small benches right off of the street side. It was such a nice night to not be outside so we were happy out there. DJ was spinning some classic tunes and people were really enjoying their time at the pool tables, conversations with one another, and some were dancing. It was a really great vibe altogether. This place is a true gem! Never change The Shady Hut! I love you exactly as you are! ”
“ Old school dive bar to wet your whistle. Belly up to the bar or go play pool. The dive bar charm is still very much alive here, just how us dive bar connoisseurs like it. Creaky stools, stiff drinks, grumpy counter neighbors (and nice neighbors too!) Prices have caught up a bit here so the day of the cheap beer is gone but a cheap beer is a rarity now unless you like sitting at home. Which I don't, so cheers! Drink up! ”
